Hi there! I’m Kathleen, a Digital Homes Editor for three home interest websites.
This blog will share tips, tricks and a few of my learning experiences, all about digital content.
Posts on this blog will include the topics:
- The broad possibilities of using technology when writing for the web
- Graphic design and magazine layout tutorials
- WordPress tutorials
- Content curation and other ways of creating and repurposing content
- Blogging and ideas for running a website
- Social media tips and tricks
I began this blog as a student on the Online Journalism MA at Birmingham City University. It documented my research and coursework for the programme. My final MA project Brumitecture, was a hyperlocal website exploring and sharing Birmingham’s iconic architecture, which achieved a Distinction grade.
About Kathleen
My interest lies in creative content and user experience. I enjoy finding and testing different ways to engage and keep a readership.
I’m fascinated by analytics and behaviour flow, and how careful website design can direct a users journey to maximise their reading experience and encourage them to come back for more.
I’m keen to learn new platforms and as many mediums as I can to produce a variety of interesting (and fun!) content for an online community to fit their needs which they can read, explore and ultimately enjoy.
My qualification in Interior Design has lead to become the Digital Homes Editor of three websites, although I also enjoy creating travel and lifestyle based content. I have previously written for publications including North Leads To Home and I Choose Birmingham. My training in creative writing has lead me to some interesting projects, including writing a poem to use in Live Now, a short fashion film by Oonagh Bush, and having several of my short stories included in published anthologies.
